Unit 7 - Equilibrium
By: Sinclaire Bradley
DOWNLOAD ALL NOTES you wish to use (it's free!), as the PDF links in the drive are not clear
Topics Covered:
Equilibrium
Equilibrium Constant
Rate Constant (k) vs Equilibrium Constant (K)
What K Depends On
Manipulations with K
Principles of Le Chatelier
Testing Tips:
The equilibrium constant never has units! Definitely spend time understanding the differences between k and K since both of them are used a lot in multi-part problems.
Topics Covered:
Quotient (Q)
Q vs K
How Q Relates to Which Reaction Direction is Favored
Kp
Equations with Kp and Kc
ICE Charts
Example ICE Chart Problems
x < 5% Rule
Testing Tips:
Quotient is something you with use a LOT (especially for solubility problems). Also, you must always remember to use the x < 5% when doing ICE charts.
Topics Covered:
Ksp
Quotient and Ksp
What Ksp Depends On
Solubility
Saturated Solutions
Examples of Ksp/Solubility Problems (3)
Testing Tips:
The language is sometimes weird when asking about solubility problems, so remember that a saturated solution is one in equilibrium. I recommend practicing these problems a bit more.
